The development of Pindigen Park on Ottawa's LeBreton Flats represents a major achievement in the art of designing meaningful and inclusive public spaces. This project was designed to celebrate and honour Indigenous cultures, while creating a welcoming space for all residents and visitors in Ottawa. Pindigen Park, whose name means "Welcome" in Anishinaabemowin, is part of an approach that respects traditional lands and promotes dialogue between Indigenous and non-Indigenous cultures. Our role in the project was to design the interpretive and signage materials, as well as to produce all the sculptural elements linked to Indigenous identity.
